Who are we?

Why this project?

We are a group of undergraduate students from the History department at the National University of Colombia. This web page was an academic product that linked two courses: Digital History and Medieval History.

In this web page you will be able to explore the different characters of Lorenzetti's frescoes. The characters are the result of investigations made by Medieval History students in the semester 2015-II and 2016-II. Its author is properly referenced in each page and downloadable file.

This project was done under the Public History and the Digital History framework with the purpose of providing a version of the Middle Ages according to History students.

We made this website as our final project in the Digital History course to link it with the Medieval History class. It originates with the interests of students and professors to publish the investigations that were made the semester 2015-II in the Medieval History course. The objective was to get people to know the characteristics of the fresco painted by Ambrogio Lorenzetti and to give a version of history directly from history students. The project has been adding more and more characters and now it aims to to introduce and share insights of medieval times to broad audiences.

The Characters:

The investigations consist of one of the characters from the fresco, assigned to one student. Each student would investigate its origin, its iconography and its context. The result is a power point presentation with some text that allows people to locate the character in a coherent historical and spatial context.
